Thanks a lot for your warm welcome. I will post some more pics from Kanchi. It is indeed very interesting place. It is believed that Lord 'Parvati' wife of Lord Siva prayed for him under a mango tree at this place. This is 5000 yrs old tree still existing and is famous for producing mangos in 4 different tastes. This place is also famous for pure silk sarees.

We were on holiday when you first posted this picture !
It is amazing how the panel at the entry of the temple contrasts with the rest of it. The beautiful sculpted stones with no age are completely perverted by the modern panel and its 2 lamps. i find it a little sad, but it gives the picture, and the place, some nostalgic and picturesque aspect. :)
